My Photo Used in dlrtimes Magazine

Recently, the largest cruise line in the world – Queen Mary 2 – visited Dun Laoghaire. I posted some photos of this on my Facebook (personal) page – and one of them has now been used in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Council magazine – dlrtimes.

Here’s my original photo :

In the images below, I’ve added some details from the magazine as well as two recent cameraphone photos taken in Bulloch Harbour, and nearby Coliemore Harbour.

Photography Training in London

Photography Training in London

I truly believe you never stop learning. So, each year, I set aside some time (and money) to attend photography workshops and training. This year, I attended the Societies Photo Convention and classes in London. Overall, I must have gone to about 12 different seminars and classes. Some on different aspects of photography, and some on the business of photography. The photos which follow are a few I took when I had a little free time before returning home again. They were taken in the Trafalgar Square/Chinatown areas – some on a pretty wet evening.

You can view some photos taken by me on a portraiture workshop during the same trip here :  Portraiture Workshop Photos

Food Photography – Terry Lyons – Masterchef Ireland 2012 Contestant

Food Photography – Terry Lyons – Masterchef Ireland 2012 Contestant

I recently had the opportunity to take photographs of some food prepared by Terry who has now reached the final of the RTE Masterchef Ireland competition. At the time of posting, I know he’s in the final – the last 3 remaining contestants – but I don’t know who actually wins. So, Good Luck Terry – and also good luck to Nicha and Tamarin. It’s a huge achievement to get this far. Hope they all manage to benefit from the experience.

(Update : Tamarin won ! – the other websites are Terry and Nicha-Twitter)

A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire

In recognition of the end of Mardi Gras today in New Orleans, here’s a photo of a streetcar. Sadly, it no longer runs to Desire, so that’s photoshopped-in (from an actual historical tram sign). You can read about the origin of the name, and the Tennessee Williams play here : A Streetcar Named Desire

Some photos taken from Dun Laoghaire pier – the bandstand was outlined with some Xmas lights (though the protective barriers around it did take away from the impact).
